Born in Dhaka formerly a part of Pakistan called East Pakistan, she was considered a versatile, romantic and most popular actress in both West Pakistan and East Pakistan in her time.

Nayantara

Nayantara was born on 18 November 1984 as Diana Mariam Kurian, is an Indian film actress. She made her acting debut in 2003 in the Malayalam film Manassinakkare. She debuted in Tamil cinema with Ayya released in 2004 and in Telugu cinema with Lakshmi (2005), following which she starred alongside popular lead actors. Following several commercial successes such as Chandramukhi of 2005, Ghajini of 2005 and Billa of 2007, she had established herself as one of the leading contemporary actresses in Tamil cinema. She has 35 movies in her credit for which most of them are in Tamil language.

Tanushree Dutta

Tanushree Dutta was born on19 March 1984. She is an Indian actress who appears in mainly Bollywood films. She is a former beauty queen, after winning the Femina Miss India universe title in 2004 competition held in Mumbai, and was placed in the top ten in the Miss Universe 2004 pageant held in Quito, Ecuador. She has acted in 15 movies so far.

Muhammad Ali

Mohammad Ali was a Pakistani actor. He was born on November 10, 1938 into a religious family in Rampur, British India. His father, Maulana Syed Murshid Ali was an Islamic scholar. Muhammad Ali joined Radio Pakistan Hyderabad station as a broadcaster in 1956. He started his film career from film B Chiragh jalta raha as villain. His first film as hero was Shararat (1963). Later, he moved to Lahore and worked in Khandan (1964). He got breakthrough from Khamosh raho (1964). In 1989, he starred in Hindi film Clerk. His last movie screened in 1995 titled as Dum mast qalandar. He had total 277 films (248 Urdu, 17 Punjabi, 8 Pashto, 2 Double version, 1 Hindi and 1 Bengali). He had 28 films as guest appearance and 1 documentary film. He was included among 25 greatest actors of Asia (all time) by CNN survey (On 4 March 2010). Along with Waheed Murad and Nadeem, he remained one of the leading actors of Pakistan film industry. He was known as Shahenshah-e-Jazbaat, means The Emperor of Emotions. On the set of Tum mile pyar mila, Mohammad Ali met actress Zeba, and later both married while the film was still under production. The marriage was held on September 29, 1966. Ali-Zeb, as the couple came to be popularly known, did not have any children together. However, Mohammad Ali legally adopted Samina, Zeba's daughter from a previous marriage, giving her the name Samina Ali. He won 10 Nigar awards in total, one for best supporting actor (Khamosh Raho, 1964) and another special award for Doorian and Bobby in 1984. Others include best actor awards for Kaneez (1965), Aag ka darya (1966), Saiqa (1968), Wehshi (1971), Aas (1973), Aaina Aur Soorat (1974), Insaan Aur Aadmi (1975) and Haidar Ali (1978). Former president Zia ul Haq conferred Pride of Performance on Mohammad Ali in 1984 in recognition of his life-long services to the entertainment industry of Pakistan. He is the only actor who was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. He was also awarded Naushad Award of India. Mohammad Ali died on March 19, 2006 due to a heart attack in Lahore.

Waheed Murad

Waheed Murad was a legendary Pakistani film actor, producer and script writer. Waheed is considered to be one of the most famous actors of subcontinent. He was born on October 2, 1938 in Karachi, Pakistan. He was well-known for his charming expressions, attractive personality, tender voice and unusual talent for acting in films. His romantic style of acting made him popular amongst the young cinema viewers of Pakistan. One of his blockbuster films is Armaan, which was produced by him. Armaan made him a superstar overnight and as equal to the Indian film titans. He was died on November 23, 1983. In November 2010, 27 years after his death, Pakistani president Asif Zardari awarded him the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the "star of excellence," an honour given for distinguished merit in the fields of literature, arts, sports, medicine, or science.

Introduction of Lollywood

Lollywood refers to the Pakistani film industry based in the city of Lahore. The word "Lollywood" was first coined in the summer of 1989 in the now defunct magazine "Glamour" published from Karachi by a gossip columnist Saleem Nasir. The film industry in Lahore started in 1929 with the opening of the United Players' Studios on Ravi Road. The cornerstone for the studio was set by Abdur Rashid Kardar. Most of the feature films shot in Pakistan are in Urdu (National Language) and Punjabi. The Pakistani film industry is credited with having produced some of the most notable and recognised filmmakers, actors, writers and directors, and for introducing pop music to South Asia. After partition of of Sub-continent, the first Lollywood film “Teri Yaad” was released on September 2, 1947 which was produced Dewan Pictures and directed by Daood Chand.
